Walking through difficult seasons in life is beautiful and messy all at the same time. And sometimes it takes awhile before we see fruit being produced from our difficult circumstances, but often times that is exactly what we need to grow, at least for us girls that’s what we needed. In the last couple years, life threw some pretty good curveballs at us. Before all of it, we were care free without too many worries. But then it was like all at once we were hit with seasons of painful heartbreaks, hospital stays, questioning if we should even be in college, and other difficult and stubborn situations that seemed to follow our family. Some days we were ready to face our trials, but to be honest, there were more days when our faith faltered. We often put our focus on the trials and empty pursuits rather than God, but that only left us overwhelmed and empty. Even the dreams and hopes we once carried within our hearts had vanished into thin air. Every day was the same as the day before and we became very self focused, so in other words we threw a big pity party for ourselves.
But, like you’ve heard before, seasons don’t last forever and it’s true, but ultimately it was God’s grace that removed us from where we had allowed ourselves to be. Through our difficult circumstances we learned more about God’s heart for producing fruit in our lives, especially steadfastness in us as believers, having joy in ALL seasons, and being faithful in our walk with Christ no matter what.
In this new season of overwhelming joy, redemption, and living out the dreams God has placed on our hearts, we have been reflecting on His faithfulness in all the things He has done and continues to do in our lives. He has completely redeemed our messy and broken hearts and we are now seeing the fruit the difficult circumstances produced in us. Life is still messy of course, but it really is beautiful because God is conforming us to His likeness with each passing day. And no, we won’t ever reach Christ’s standard of perfection, but He still chooses to use us to not only grow us in our walk with Him, but most importantly to point back to our Creator and for that, we are so incredibly thankful.
In whatever season you may find yourself in, embrace the beautiful and the messy, strive after God’s heart, and allow Him to mold you more into His image because if not, the world will take your focus away with its “promising”, but empty pursuits. It will only lead to a withered and fruitless life. John 15:8 “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” As believers, we must leave our mark in the world, but first we have to abide in our never changing God to be able to bear fruit as we walk through different seasons in life.
